Curricula in a French art school operate over three and/or five years. Study is organised into two cycles:
- Cycle 1 consists of 6 semesters. It allows the acquisition of fundamental skills (technical, theoretical and practical) and a first approach to research. It is validated by a BA Art Degree / Diplôme National d’Art (Licence).
- Cycle 2 consists of the following 4 semesters. It is a period of specialisation validated by the Masters Art / Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique (Master).
The ésban also participates in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and its organisation of studies is inscribed within the European LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorate) structure.
